Ian's Art and more

So Ian is REALLY into drawing lately. He will draw airplanes, helicopters, and recently, people. One day I went into the bedroom to read him a book before nap time, closed the door and saw the surprise. I was on the verge of reprimanding or laughing. So I laughed, and so glad that I did. He then explained to me his drawings. Pointing to one - "He is a boy. Here are his eyes, his legs and he is sad." At first I felt sad and racked my brain as to why perhaps his boy drawing would be sad but soon realized it is just part of toddlerhood. He also pointed out the hair to me - the nice little squiggles. :)
Ian and Harvey the engine taking a bath.
Sol and her wild hair after having it in pigtails all day. It also looks like she's got tattoos, but they are her bandaids from her 1 year shots.
Sol has just learned to play with this toy herself. She put the balls on top then hammers them down. It makes her so happy to be able to do it and can be entertained doing it for minutes on end.

Halloween - Oct. 31

Ian enjoying his trick or treat booty!

As soon as we got home, they both dumped their bags to drool over their treasure. Everyday Ian asks for his Halloween bag...and I am grateful that it is almost all empty.
The weather was so warm that we were able to comfortably walk the streets and knock a few doors. It was a great time. Sol and Ian rode in the stroller most of the time, but Ian would walk/run too.
Here we are getting ready to go out - Ian the horse, and Sol the pumpkin!
Another pumpkin outfit that Sol tried on earlier in the day. She loved looking at herself in the mirror in her costume.

Sol's First Birthday

This was the birthday celebration, round two, on Saturday with the Brady siblings.
The cousins: Lily, Sol and Ian.
Thanks for coming up from Provo and spending the morning celebrating!
Sol loved her new "bike" from Uncle Del and Aunt Rachael, and Tia Rachel.
And Lily and Ian especially loved pushing Sol on her new "bike". :)

Sol's First Birthday

Spaghetti Dinner - her favorite.
Ian, the party hat bird!
Sol blowing out her candles with LOTS of help from Ian.
She LOVED her cake, but her tummy didn't. :(
The proud parents of sweet little Sol, who by this time, is ready to go to sleep.
Diego came up from Provo and joined us for the special occasion.

B'day Preparations

So - I am still trying to get the hang of this blog thing, and apparently uploaded my images in the reverse order that I wanted. Sorry!

Ian and Sol helping to make the yummy birthday cake.
Ian could have spent HOURS trying to blow up balloons. He was so entertained by it, and was trying so hard and so often, that he almost passed out at the dinner table doing it again and again!
Sol and Ian loved the balloons. Funny, she didn't get scared when they popped, but she did when you would let the air out of a balloon and let it make its funny noise and fly around the room!

Good Times

This is the wonderful little table and chairs that Joanne Brunetti (my BYU professor, mentor and friend) gave the kids. They love it! Ian is quite the artist these days, drawing airplanes, helicopters and people. Sol wants to do everything he does, so when not chewing on the crayons, she makes a few "drawings" herself!
Good Times!
Sweet Ian sharing his chocolate pudding with Sol Yum!

We were able to meet Aaron for a quick lunch before he flew out of SLC. It was great to be together!

Ian has been noticing all the pumpkins around and calls them Halloween Pumpkins. (And that is all pretty much that he associates with Halloween right now...no trick or treating memories yet, even though he went last year...) So I got him a pumpkin and we had a pumpkin painting day with the Robison girls (Abigail and Analyn), Sol and Ian, and Kate (our neighbor).

All About Sol

You gotta love the personality! And yes...she is a firecracker!

School Boy (Sept 2008)

So, he really isn't in school, but this reminded me of a typical posing school picture. It was a photo shoot for both Ian and Sol (a friend takes pics and offered to do the kids) but after one or two shots, Ian just wanted to play with his friend.

Making ordinary moments, something special

Ian has really been into waterfalls lately (I think since the cabin), and so we made our own makeshift one in the backyard. Pretty funny, huh? As ghetto as it was it was fascinating and addicting at the same time. It made me want to dig in and create a pond with a waterfall. I could understand why Dad loved creating ponds and falls in our yards.
Thumbs up for the waterfall!
Here is Miss Toothy Smile! Sol is into smiling a lot lately - I am so relieved - she had been so serious. She likes to imitate our laughs too. She has got the two bottom teeth and a third on top.
She loves to hold food and eat it - especially peaches!
Beautiful! - do I need to say more?
